General Information Fam Camp is the only RV camping area on Barksdale and is located on the East Reservation, on Range Rd adjacent to Cullen Park and the Natural Resources Bldg. Situated in a well maintained wooded location this area provides a great venue for RV camping. With 42 paved sites your stay with us is bound to bring you back again & again! Each site is equipped with 50/30/20 amp hookups, water, sewer, and WIFI capabilities. Primitive tent camping is also available if desired. There are NO reservations accepted for RV camp sites....all are 1st come 1st serve! We also have (6) fully equipped RV campers ready for rent, all of which are pet friendly. These campers are "on site" with full hookups, slide-outs, linen, TV, kitchen utensils, coffee pot, and refrigerator. They are great for a weekend get-away or if you need a place to put extra relatives. If that's not enough, we also have (6) fully furnished 3 bedroom mobile homes all ready to go! These homes are also equipped with the above mentioned creature comforts so all you need to bring is food and toiletries. In the near future we will have a total of 12 mobile homes, so stay tuned for more information on their availability. Reservations ARE accepted for these and the RV campers up to 90 days in advance of your stay. A "one day rental" deposit is required when reserving an RV or mobile home. All rented RVs and mobile homes are non-smoking! FamCamp Information / Rules(Adobe Acrobat PDF - 102KB) Duration of Stay at Fam Camp All RV camp sites are occupied on a 1st come 1st serve basis. The maximum length of stay is 30 days for all sites and rentals. Exceptions may be granted under certain circumstances (such as natural disasters) and are at the discretion of the Director of Outdoor Recreation.
Common Use Areas The main office is located in the Fam Camp Club House. The club house has a fire place, spacious living room, and flat screen TV for use by all Fam Camp residents. There is also a common use computer lab with WIFI internet and a screened in porch available on a walk in basis. The club house is open during regular business hours. Adjacent to the club house is a fully equipped coin operated laundry, restrooms, and shower facility secured by a cipher lock system. Combinations are available in the camp office or from the night hosts. These areas are well maintained and available to all campers. A dump station is located on the grounds and will be utilized for dumping of waste water. NOTE: Under no circumstances should waste water (gray water) be dumped on the ground in the camping area, or anywhere else except the dump station. Violators will be subject to fines and/or other base sanctions. Although common use areas are regularly maintained we ask that residents clean up after themselves as a courtesy to others who may be using the facility at the same time.
LOCAL GOODS & SERVICES A small shoppette is located approximately 1.5 miles from Fam Camp. This facility has a pay phone and gas pumps that can accommodate both cars and RVs. There is no diesel fuel available on Barksdale AFB. The closest diesel pumps are located just outside the east gate. This shoppette is limited in terms of food and toiletries and is designed for short term support. The base commissary and exchange are located on the main base and are available to all military & dependent ID card holders. Select here to down load BAFB Cullen Park (Map) PARK USAGE & FEES Cullen and Clear Lake Parks are located next to Fam Camp on the East Reservation (see map). Both parks are well maintained and equipped with covered pavilion picnic areas and large grills that can accommodate most any size group. NOTE: Reservations and a deposit are required for use of the pavilion areas and large grills. These areas are great for squadron parties, church groups, or family reunions. Cost is $25 per military function/event or $100 for non-military/personal events, per pavilion or for the entire park if you have a large group. Either way the price is the same! Each park has a volleyball court, horse shoe pits, and multiple uncovered picnic tables & grills available anytime on a 1st come 1st serve basis. Cullen Park also has a nice playground for the kids. Both parks have grassy areas so groups can play team sports during their gathering. See the below links if you desire to have beer/alcohol at your party. You must have an "approved" special request to serve or consume alcohol when using the parks or the Witches Hut. The "Witches Hut" is a covered group/picnic usage area located across the street from the flight line and just behind lodging. This location has a large built-in grill, restrooms, and picnic tables under a large coned metal roof. This is an excellent place for a squadron party/BBQ or after work gathering. Centrally located on the base, it provides a great venue for socializing and entertainment. Reservations are required to use this facility and the same park fees apply. RESERVATIONS: Reservations for the parks or for the Witches Hut are handled by the Fam Camp Management. Go by the main office or call 456-2679 or 453-7176 to secure a spot on the list. During periods of nice weather reservations fill up quickly so call early and reserve a date up to 90 days in advance of your function.
