Primary Mission
Barksdale Honor Guard Mission Statement
The Primary Mission of Barksdale Honor Guard is to provide Military Funerals Honors for Active Duty, Retiree and Veteran members who have served Honorably in the United States Air Force. Honor Guard also provides support for ceremonies Honoring Distinguished guests, Change of Command ceremonies, Retreats, Colors Presentations and civilian programs like parades and celebrations within the Shreveport & Bossier City limits.
Honor Guard Request Policies
The Barksdale AFB Honor Guard cannot perform at events raising money for charities, clubs or organizations. Honor Guard can perform Colors (Flag) Presentations, Sword Cordons, Retirements, Change of Commands, Parades and other ceremonies on and off base (Off base is limited to the local Bossier City/Shreveport City Limits Only). Furthermore, Funerals Honors are the Number #1 priority for our Active Duty, Retirees and Veterans within our Area of Responsibility. That being the case, Honor Guard may have to cancel any previously scheduled event, to accomodate a funeral faxed or called in for the same date/time. Honor Guard will call the Point Of Contact (POC) As Soon As Possible and/or before the start time of the event if we have to cancel our appearnace or offer a different time.
